Meta, which also aims to monetize the “Channels” feature that promises broadcast-based messaging, focuses on companies that want to broadcast in a similar direction, especially NGOs, medical research institutions and verification organizations, unlike individual content creators.

He added that meta managers can send text, photos, videos, surveys and stickers through these channels. The most prominent point of the new feature is that only channel owners can send messages in channels. Users following the channel will not be able to reply to these messages.

Users will be able to join the channel via the invitation link determined and shared by the channel owners. In particular, the company made the following statements:

“Today we are announcing WhatsApp Channels, a special way to follow the people and organizations that matter to you directly within WhatsApp. We’re starting in Singapore and Colombia, but will be available to everyone later this year. We create Channels as the most private way to communicate. Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement that as a channel manager, your phone number will not be shown to followers, and when you follow a channel, you will not show it to the admin or other people who follow the channel.

In addition, messages sent to the channels will be deleted after 30 days and the company will not keep any logs. It was clarified by Mark Zuckerberg that the feature, which is currently in use in Colombia and Singapore, will come to Turkey and other countries at the end of the year.
