  1. Hello and greetings I had a few questions I would be happy if I get an answer?

    – I had a touristic visa when I entered to turkey and then I applied for a Touristic resident permit, it will expire next 5 months if I attend a private university in here, do I need to leave the country and re-enter to get a student residence permit,

    – I want to study undergraduate programs and if I find work after one year can the employer apply for a work permit for me with my student residence permit and does resident permit type make a difference during the work permit procedure here?

I would be glad to get an answer to the top question thanks in advance.

    1. Hello,
In order to obtain student residence permit you need to obtain student visa in Turkish consulate in your home country once you will be enrolled to university in Turkey. Foreign students can obtain work permit in Turkey only during Master degree or PhD. Work permit can be granted under condition that student did not receive state scholarship during Bachelor’s degree in Turkey. Work permit application can be submitted on basis of student work permit.

    1. Hello,
Foreign students can obtain work permit in Turkey only during Master Degree or PhD. Spouse of foreign student can obtain residence permit in Turkey and after finding a job and obtaining work permit they are also allowed to work within the country. After completing education, student residence permit can be either first transferred to short term residence permit in order to search for a job in Turkey or directly to work permit if you find employer before expiration of student residence permit. Child born in Turkey can be Turkish citizen by birth only if parents are Turkish citizens or stateless. Foreigners can be eligible for long term residence permit after 8 years of uninterrupted stay in Turkey. Uninterrupted stay in this case mean that there is no interruption between residence/work permits during 8 years, foreigner did not spend more than one year abroad in total and more than 6 months in a row during this time. Being long term residence permit holder does not make family members eligible for residence permit application on this basis, they can only apply independently. Applicants might be requested to prove they financial resources in amount equal to 500 USD per each requested month of stay.

  4. Isn’t Student Visa Enough to live and study in Turkey for the required Education program duration? Or Residence permit is required?
And if yes, what would be the steps towards obtaining one?

    Thanks..

    1. Hello,
If the duration of education program is longer than three months, students must apply for residence permit after entering Turkey and before expiration of their visa. To apply for student residence permit, applicants must obtain health insurance covering the whole requested period of stay and have documents proving their address in Turkey and duration of education program.
