Turkey Started to Give Permanent Residence Permits to the Crimean Tatar Turks

At the press conference held by the Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu in June 2022, it was informed that the migration studies regarding the Crimean Tatar Turks had started. As it is known, a foreigner who is not a Turkish citizen must legally stay in Turkey for 8 years uninterrupted in order to obtain a long-term residence permit. However, according to the decision taken by the Immigration Policies Board in 2017, permanent residence permits are granted to Bulgarian, Greek, Meskhetian and Uyghur Turks without requiring 8 years of residence. These people are considered as “Turkish Nobles”. As of August 2022, Crimean Tatar Turks will be able to take advantage of this Turkish Noble status and obtain a permanent residence permit if they meet the necessary conditions, without the residence condition. Crimean Tatar Turks who want to take advantage of this right can make an appointment at the website “e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr” and apply to the Migration Administrations with the necessary documents.
