Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital is a training and research hospital located in Şişli, Istanbul. In 1899, It was established by order of the Ottoman II. Sultan Abdulhamid. It is Turkey’s first pediatric hospital. The hospital was named “Şişli Children’s Hospital” in 1922 and became a public hospital under the administration of the Ministry of Health and Social Aid. Şişli Etfal Hospital incorporated and developed institutions such as Şişli Nurse and Laborant School (1946-1956), Florence Nightingale School of Nursing (1961-1965) and Mother and Child Health Istanbul Center (1962-1988). Today, it trains assistants in 21 specialties.
