Is There a Pet Ban in Public Transport Vehicles in Istanbul?

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) announced its new decision regarding pets before October 4, World Animal Day. From now on, pets will also be able to use public transportation in Istanbul.

According to the statement made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, a higher committee was formed with experts on the subject due to October 4 World Animal Protection Day, and the conditions for cats, dogs and birds to travel with their owners in public transportation vehicles were rearranged.

According to this; Guides and dogs, cats and birds weighing less than 5 kilograms will be able to travel all day long in public transportation vehicles such as subway, bus and ferry, and dogs over 5 kilograms will be able to travel outside the hours of 07.00-10.00 and 16.00-20.00.

Dogs, with muzzles and leashes; cats will be able to travel with their special bags and birds will be able to travel with their cages.
