Macs and MacBooks allow splitting the screen in half. In this way, users can browse two different applications at the same time. In this article, we have explained what steps should be taken to perform the said operation.

Mac and MacBook models released by Apple have a feature called Split View. The feature, which helps the computer to be used more efficiently, allows the screen to be divided into two. So how can we split the screen in two?

Steps to Split Screen on MacBook

  • Open two different windows.
  • Click the green icon in the upper left corner of the window.
  • Select “Tile to Left Side of Screen” or “Tile to Right Side of Screen”.
  • Click on the other window.
  • There will be two different windows on the right and left parts of the screen.
  • You can adjust the window size by pressing and holding the line in the middle of the screen.

Along with supporting keyboard shortcuts, MacBook takes productivity to the next level with its Split View feature. With this feature, you can browse two different websites at the same time. For example, while watching videos on YouTube, you can browse the products on the e-commerce site.

To split the screen in two, first open two different windows that you want on the screen. Click on the green icon located in the upper left corner of one of the open windows. If you follow this step, a window will open.

In the window that opens, you will see three different options: “Full Screen”, “Tile to Left Side of Screen” and “Tile to Right Side of Screen”. Select “Tile to Left Side of Screen” or “Tile to Right Side of Screen” from among them.

When you follow the mentioned step, the current window will be positioned on the right or left. You can complete the process by clicking on the window on the other side. So there will be two different windows on either side of the screen.

If you want one of the windows on the screen to take up a larger area, hold down the black line in the middle and drag it to the right or left. It is possible to do this in a more practical way.

Drag three fingers upwards on the touchpad to display the “Mission Control” section. Press and hold one window and drag and drop it to the other window. Click on the new window. Note that the “Mission Control” option must be selected from the Trackpad category.

How to Exit Split Screen?

  • Drag three fingers upwards on the TouchPad.
  • Move the mouse cursor over the top window.
  • Click the arrow icon.

To exit the split screen, swipe up on the touchpad with three fingers. Move the mouse cursor over the top window. In this way, the two windows will be separated from each other and returned to their original state.
