In order to marry legally in Turkey for foreigners, the required conditions must be completed and the necessary documents must be obtained. When foreign nationals want to have an official marriage in Turkey, some documents are required from them. If a foreigner wishes to marry a Turkish citizen officially, the foreigner must apply to one of the marriage offices located anywhere in Turkey together with their future spouse. Previously, it was only possible to apply to the marriage offices located in the region where the parties to be married were registered. However, now you can easily apply to a marriage office located anywhere in the country. Before going to the marriage office, a notarized translation of the foreign national’s passport, a legalized or apostilled birth and celibacy certificate that can be obtained from his/her own country or consulate, a medical report to be obtained from family medicine for both parties, and 6 photographs should be prepared. With these documents, an application can be made to the marriage office. If there is no problem in the prepared documents, a day can be taken for the wedding and an official marriage can be made easily. Many marriage offices ask foreigners to be within the period of residence permit or visa in addition to these listed documents. However, if the foreigner does not have a residence permit or is not within the visa period, an official marriage can still be made on the condition that other documents are ready.
