324 Passenger Capacity First National Electric Train At Marmaray Bakırköy Station
The National Electric Train Set, which was delivered by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to the General Directorate of TCDD Tasimacilik on April 27 at a ceremony attended by Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, was opened to citizens. Starting from 11.00 am, the National Electric Train at Marmaray Bakırköy Station can be visited for a week. “Yeni Sakarya National Electric Train Set”, in which domestic and national facilities are used from design to production, has an operating speed of 160 kilometers. It can be produced in 3, 4, 5 and 6 vehicles (wagons) to be used in regional or intercity trains according to operational needs; it has a capacity of 324 passengers in 5 vehicle configuration. The sets, which have the TSI certificate required for operation in Turkey and European Union countries, are produced with passenger comfort in mind, and the train has Wi-Fi access, a cafeteria section, 2 sections for disabled passengers, a disabled boarding system and a baby care room.
“We Launched Our National Train With A Capacity Of 324 People”
Burak Gün, who works as an Electrical Electronics R&D engineer at Turkey Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ), said, “I have been an engineer of this factory for 4 years. We have put our national train with a capacity of 324 people on the rails. 3 of our sets were commissioned this year. Next year, 4 sets and hopefully 19 sets will be commissioned until 2026. We have a bistro in the vehicle, there is a disabled ramp for our disabled passengers, there are tea and coffee offerings, there is a baby care section. It is open to visitors here this weekend.”
“Marvelous, Nothing Not To Like”
A citizen examining the train said, “We are proud of those who built it. We thank those who contributed a lot. ” he said. Nihat Doğan said, “It is marvelous. It is not to be disliked. Thanks to everyone’s efforts,” he said.
