Applications for work permit are made through e-Government portal of Turkey (https://ecalismaizni.ailevecalisma.gov.tr). The automated work permit application system enables the users to fill the online work permit application form and upload necessary documents into the system. Online application is made through the e-government portal. Duly applications are finalized by the Ministry at most thirty days and once the decision is made, the ministry informs the applicant through e-mail. Foreigners residing outside the Turkey can make their work permit applications through the Turkish representative offices in their home countries. In the existence of residence permit valid for at least 6 months, foreigners residing in Turkey can make their applications directly to Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
1.FOREIGNERS RESIDING OUTSIDE OF TURKEY
Foreigners residing outside the Turkey are subject to apply for work permit from the representative offices of Turkey in their own countries. Pursuance to work permit application of foreigner, within 10 working days the employer should process the application online to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Turkey. Once the approval from the Ministry is granted, foreigners are required to apply for work visa to the Turkish representative office within 90 days.
As per new rules on residence permits, valid working permissions will be now used as residence permits as well. Thus work permit validity requirement of residence permit application within 30 days upon obtaining the work permit (for consulate applications 30 days was starting upon arrival of work permit holders) will be outlawed. On the other hand the same as work permits, “Work Permit Exemption Certificates” will also be used as residence permits.
2.FOREIGNERS RESIDING INSIDE TURKEY
Foreigners with residence permit valid for at least 6 months may make their applications to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security internally. Internal applications are made by the employer directly to the Ministry. Once the online application is completed and signed by electronic signature, there is no need to send any documents to the Ministry .
3.WORK PERMIT EXTENSION APPLICATIONS
Extension application of the work permit period is made to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. As Internal applications, after completing and signing with e-signature online applications, there is no need to post any documents to ministry. The application for extension could be started from 2 months before the expiry date of the work permit. After the expiry date of work permit, the applicant no longer may request for extension and the application is regarded as initial application.

Could you please make more clear the 6-months rule when applying for a work permit in Turkey. Does it mean that the applicant should have residence permit that is valid at least 6 months at the moment of application for the work permit? Is it possible to apply for a work permit if I hold 6 months residence permit that is about to expire at the time of application for the work permit?

In order to submit work permit application residence permit must be valid in total for at least six months. Application can be submitted until the expiration date of residence permit, left duration is not taken under consideration. As your residence permit has been granted for 6 months in total, your employer can apply for work permit on its basis before your residence permit expires.

Hello, i am an english teacher, i have recently extended my residence permit for work purpose, in order to be able to apply for work permit. Today my employer informed me that it won’t be possible to apply for work permit for me as due to the coronavirus effect on the school there are only 3 teachers without my account, and to apply the minimum number should be 6. I don’t know what is my situation anymore. Is it okay to wait for 2 months and then apply for the work permit and is my situation legal or what should I do. As work permit has not been issued, it does not affect validity of your residence permit. You are allowed to stay in Turkey legally until expiration of your residence permit however you are not allowed to work until you receive work permit. Your employer can submit work application once school employs 5 Turkish citizens or if you find another employer, application can be made until the last day of your residence permit’s validity.

Hello, i have a work permit that expires until 2021 but due to COVID19 my company fired us without any financial support. Is it possible to make a tranfer of work permit to another company that accepted me? Can my current company that closed in March refuse this transfer or it is my right to do it?

If your work permit has not been cancelled by the company by now, work permit transfer can be made with participation of both companies. However, if the company has already cancelled your work permit, your new employer can only make the application through Turkish consulate in your home country. Company has a right to refuse the transfer but it is not a common practise in Turkey.

Foreigners can establish a business in Turkey with minimum capital of 10.000 TL, however in order to obtain work permit for company owner/shareholder, company’s paid capital must be 100.000 TL or more. After staying in Turkey for five years uninterruptedly on basis of work permit you can be eligible for Turkish citizenship application.

It is correct, there is an obligation to hire 5 Turkish citizens per each foreigner applying for work permit, including company owner/shareholder. During evaluation of work permit application amount of Turkish personnel during last 6 months before submission of the application is taken under consideration.

I received an email from BM Holding A.S. regarding an employment offer with a very lucrative offer. Now they directed me to their visa consultant, saying that he shall be responsible to process visa, permits, etc. He has sent me a form and a document with details for visa, following is his email:
“The Paper work permit /visa processing will be done by us here in Turkish Immigration Headquarters in Ankara after which the approval letter will be courier to you before you can visit our embassy consulate in your country for the stamping for your passports with Turkish entry visa.
Also, you are to know that BM Holding A.S will be responsible for your “AIRTICKET FEE, HOUSE ACCOMODATION , AIRPORT ALLOWANCE.”
1. Kindly note that your work permit document will be processed as non-appearance candidate.
2. There is “NO” interview needed from you because, BM Holding A.S has signed your invitation and you have been found qualified for Four(4) years Turkish work Permit endorsement.
3. Once your Work permit is approved, I will send hard copies of the documents to you via your provided address and fax copies to Turkish Embassy in your country.

In the document he has is asking to deposit USD 3000 in my own name via MoneyGram which will be a security deposit and can be collected on my arrival in Turkey. Kindly advise if its genuine or a scam.
