Aid Campaign For Earthquake Victims
After the double earthquake that caused disaster in 10 provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş, citizens rushed to the aid centers created. A queue formed in the blood collection tents of Kızılay. AFAD, which carries out search and rescue efforts in the region, also launched an aid campaign via SMS.
A relief campaign was launched after the earthquakes that caused great loss of life and property.
BLOOD DONATION QUEUE IN SHOPPING CENTERS
Citizens in Istanbul, Edirne and Eskişehir flocked to Kızılay branches to meet their blood needs.
Queues also formed in blood centers established in shopping malls.
After a while, the Red Crescent announced that blood donation should be spread over days, since blood cannot be stored for a long time.
Municipalities called on citizens to send aid to the region.
The collected food will go to the points determined by AFAD.
Rescue teams moved to the region from almost every province of Turkey.
Miners experienced in search and rescue went to the earthquake zone.
Trained dogs, who are the biggest supporters of the teams, will also work to find those who are under the rubble.
THOUSANDS OF AID VOLUNTEERS HAVE BEEN AKIN
Thousands of aid volunteers from Istanbul, who wanted to participate in the search and rescue efforts in the earthquake zone, flocked to Istanbul Airport.
Volunteers, almost competing to go to the disaster area, formed long queues at the terminal.
In the first stage, AFAD sent thousands of blankets, tents and beds, food trucks, mobile kitchens and ovens to the region for nutritional needs.

AFAD also published a message on its social media account for citizens who want to help. It was stated that by writing “EARTHQUAKE”, an SMS of 20 liras could be sent to 1866.
Istanbul Governor Ali Yerlikaya announced that 2 thousand 647 personnel from Istanbul went to the earthquake zone with 16 planes.
The teams consist of AFAD, search and rescue, gendarmerie, police, metropolitan fire department and municipality personnel.
İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu announced that under the coordination of AFAD, 2 search and rescue vehicles and 200 firefighters, food and water trucks were transported to the earthquake zone.
Non-governmental organizations also organize campaigns for earthquake victims by making calls on social media.
There is a warning from Haluk Levent, the founder of the AHBAP Association, the artist. Levent, on his social media account, said, “If you do not want to do evil to this country, please do not send help without meeting with the governors. Everything is blocked. After that, the business will be paralyzed.”
