Let’s start by reminding that the children of foreigners who are in education age in Turkey with international protection status have the right to education and that they can receive education legally in Turkey. Since the right to education is one of the basic universal rights, if foreigners do not have an International Protection Applicant Identity Document or have not obtained a foreigner’s identification number, they can enroll their children in public schools as “guest students“. If the foreigners provide the International Protection Applicant Identity Document containing the valid Foreigner ID number or the International Protection Holder Identity Document, it is possible to change this guest student status. In addition, the education given in public schools is free and the language of education is Turkish. It is also possible for foreign students or visiting students who meet the necessary success criteria to obtain a valid diploma.
