Two New Features Coming to WhatsApp that Increase User Privacy!
WhatsApp plans to open two important features related to user privacy and security to all users soon. Here are the details!
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is actively introducing a large number of new features, allowing users to feel the winds of change compared to the previous situation where updates were infrequent.
In the past, the app has shown significant differences between iOS and Android platforms, but recent changes aim to unify the user experience by providing consistent and modern interfaces for both operating systems.
New Security Features Coming with WhatsApp’s New Update
The latest WhatsApp update (version 2.23.16.6) includes two important security features.
- Firstly, when users receive messages from unknown numbers, they will see a special safety screen that gives them the option to block the contact or report them to WhatsApp’s moderation team. The security screen also offers useful tips for securing chats, such as verifying profile information.
- Secondly, the update introduces a privacy feature that prevents senders from knowing when their messages have been read. This feature is implemented when the “read receipt” option is enabled, and provides an extra layer of privacy by not notifying the sender until the recipient replies or adds the contact to their address book.
Currently, these security tools are available to a select group of beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta update from the Google Play Store. The company plans to gradually roll out these security features to a wider audience in the near future.
