The Criteria of Employing Foreign Personnel for Tourism Sector
Ministry of Labour and Social Security has applied New Regulation for Employing Foreigners in the Tourism Sector in order to support the tourism sector which was negatively affected by the regional events experienced in 2016. According to the announcement published by the MoLSS General Directorate of International Labor Force on 14.02.2017, as a result of the requests from the sector representatives, the minimum wage to be paid to foreigners who will work in the tourism sector is 2 times of the minimum wage and employment criteria have been facilitated. The arrangement is as follows:
In tourism sector, foreign labor demands are;
- At least three star tourism provinces certified by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism who certify that they have an accessible massage parlors, certified holiday villages, thermal houses with permission from the official authorities,
- Hamam-sauna-SPA and etc. (contracted) facilities with certified tourism enterprises which have a complex,
- At least twenty Turkish citizens are allowed to leave the official sports centers,
- Claims of businesses and workplaces not included in this scope will not be eligible, as foreign masters, masseuses and SPA therapists, such as SPA and therapist, who require expertise and mastery, will be assessed.
B) The minimum wage to be paid for foreigners in the tourism sector is 2 times of minimum gross salary;
- (Small establishments such as SPA, beauty center, sports center, hairdresser, jeweler, leather, carpet, textile etc.), tourism travel agencies, certified holiday villages with certified or undocumented tourism enterprises from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism And tourism-animation organizations and foreigners who will work in independent entertainment places, the minimum wage level that can be paid for foreigners can be applied as the minimum wage in force as of the date of application.
