Phenomenon Oguzhan Ugur, who was investigated on the grounds that the dams cracked after the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes and caused fear and panic among the earthquake victims, came to the courthouse to give a statement to the prosecutor’s office on his social media post.
Social media phenomenon Oguzhan Ugur’s account named ‘BaBala TV’ shared that after the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes affecting 10 provinces in Kahramanmaras on February 6, 2023, the dam cracked in Kahramanmaras Kumcati village and the wall of Hatay Yarseli Dam cracked.
An ex officio investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against the people whose responsibility for the sharing would be determined, on the grounds that these posts caused fear and panic among the earthquake-stricken citizens in the earthquake area and caused disruptions in search and rescue efforts.
Within the framework of the investigation, suspect Oguzhan Ugur came to the Istanbul Palace of Justice in Caglayan to give a statement to the prosecutor’s office. Ugur is testifying at the press office.
