The social media company announced this update in an article titled How to share and watch videos on Twitter, published in the help centre section. The update offers the opportunity to download all videos on the social media platform. The plugin will be valid for accounts over the age of 18.
The social media platform is trying to attract content producers back to the application with new sharing strategies that it will bring to advertising revenue. The video downloads plugin is seen as an important breakthrough to make X competitive with social media channels such as TikTok and Instagram.
X announced that it allows long-term videos in its recent update. Elon Musk, who has published parts of some films and series in the application so far, may face copyright problems.
