Is Accommodation Provided in the Satellite City to where Foreigners are Directed?

As a general practice, foreigners who have applied for international protection in Turkey and their families are not provided with accommodation. Foreigners who are directed to any satellite city in Turkey are required to take shelter in the city to which they are directed and to cover the costs of this accommodation themselves. However, in some cases, it is possible to provide accommodation for foreign asylum seekers from time to time, and this special situation must be determined by the competent authorities and their compliance with the legislation must be met. If foreigners have a special situation, they should share this with the competent authorities at the registration stage before applying for international protection and get more detailed information about whether they will be provided with accommodation.

As a reminder, Turkey can offer shelter for a very small number of asylum seekers whose situation is urgent and vulnerable. Children under the age of 18 who are separated from their families and considered as unaccompanied are hosted by the state under the protection of the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Foreigners can also apply to non-governmental organizations in their region to get detailed information about the support provided for accommodation opportunities.
