Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Festival “Balonfest”

The 3rd International Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon Festival in Nevşehir continues. On the second day of the event, the sky was colored with figured balloons from various countries.

Domestic and foreign tourists show great interest in the festival, which continues in Nevşehir Göreme town.

Tourists who came to the region to watch the hot air balloons in various figures such as “clown, rocket, heart, windmill, frog, bottle, octopus” formed a long vehicle queue on the Göreme-Avanos road. Gendarmerie teams worked at the intersections to prevent traffic disruption.

After the pilots’ preliminary preparations for the flight, the hot air balloons, which rose one after the other, floated for about 40 minutes over the fairy chimneys around the town of Goreme.

Some visitors took photos using the balloon view on the swing set up on a crane on the slope near the festival area.

Mehmet Halis Aydoğan, who organized the event, stated that many people from the surrounding cities as well as the people of the region came to Göreme for the festival, adding, “The interest is high, much more people came to the festival due to the weekend. 16 balloons from foreign countries participated in the festival. Next year, the participation is very high. I think there will be more. Due to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic, 100-figure balloons from different countries are planned to participate in the festival.” said.

Göreme Mayor Ömer Eren also expressed that the crowd in the field is proof of the success of the festival and thanked those who contributed.

Yasin Güleç, one of the visitors to the festival area, stated that they enjoyed watching the events that he followed with his family from the first day, “It is a very nice event. I think it makes positive contributions to the promotion of both Cappadocia and Turkey.” he said.

Yağız Sağlamdin, one of the children who took pictures with his family in the field, said that he woke up early in the morning to see the heart balloon and came to the festival area and said that he was happy.
