Olga Ershova, 49, died on her birthday when her parachute did not open when she jumped from a height of 2,650 feet on her birthday and fell on a tree and died.

Olga, from the western Russian city of Kirov, was the last of three women to jump out of a plane with two friends on 27 July.

A proud onlooker praises the women for their daring jump. But when Olga’s parachute fails to open, the man’s calm quickly turns to panic and he starts swearing in Russian.

Olga fell down much faster than her friends as her parachute gained speed.

The jump organiser, known to have links to the Russian military, instructed Olga through a megaphone to use the reserve parachute. She shouts ‘reserve’ five times.

Not knowing how to use the emergency equipment, Olga crashed into a birch tree and fell to the ground.

According to reports, Olga was hospitalised and serious fractures were detected. At first she miraculously began to recover, even a relative said she was able to get out of bed.

However, her condition worsened and she died. The hospital confirmed that she died from injuries sustained in the fall.
