With the New Decision, More Than 10 Districts Become Provinces in Turkey!

The first steps were taken for 19 districts that succeeded in fulfilling eight different criteria to become provinces. Here are the details of those districts and the process of becoming a province!

With the new regulation to be released soon, it is expected that there will be important changes that will make 19 districts provinces and it is said that the current number of provinces will reach 100.

Considering the increasing population of various districts, studies have been initiated to establish new provinces according to the updated lists. This development will lead to an increase in the number of provinces beyond the existing 81 provinces.

Nationalist Movement Party Chairman Devlet Bahceli suggested that 19 districts be given provincial status after the meeting he held recently. Taking this proposal into account, the Justice and Development Party started to take the first steps to submit a proposal for the establishment of these 19 new provinces.

10 Districts Become Provinces

What Criteria Are Required for a District to Become a Province?

According to the proposed plan, districts that meet the eight criteria will gain provincial status. Among these criteria, the population of the district is at least 100,000, it is at least 30 kilometers away from the city center, and adequate infrastructure and public services are provided.
