Who is Muhtar Kent?
Ahmet Muhtar Kent was born in New York in 1952. He originally came from the Madra family from Ayvalik.
His father, Necdet Kent, was the New York Consul General at the time. Necdet Kent saved the lives of 80 Jewish Turks, who were wanted to be sent to the camps by train, during the period of the Consulate General of Marseille during World War II.
After graduating from Tarsus American College, Muhtar Kent graduated from the Department of Economics at the University of Hull, England.
He started working at Coca Cola in 1978. He held various positions in this company until 1999.
He worked in Efes Pilsen group between 1999 and 2005.
In 2005, he became Coca Cola North Asia, Eurasia and Middle East group president.
As of July 1, 2008, he was appointed as the CEO of Coca Cola.
He became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Coca-Cola, replacing Neville Isdell, the former chairman of the board of directors, with the votes of the members of the board, in the elections for the Chairman of the Board of Directors held at Coca Cola’s Atlanta Headquarters on April 23, 2009.
