In recent years, an agreement was made with Space X for the launch of Turksat 6A, Turkey’s first domestic communication satellite. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had even made a statement on the subject.

According to the new news, the launch date of Turksat 6A has been announced. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a public announcement.

Minister Uraloğlu’s statement about Turksat 6A included the following statements:

“With the completion of the tests, our satellite will be ready for delivery to the launch site. In the evaluations we made with all our solution partners during our visit today, we plan to deliver our Turksat 6A satellite on the ground in March. Afterwards, we plan to send this satellite to the launch site in accordance with the agreement made with Space X company to be launched, and we plan to carry out the necessary launch operations probably in June. The area we are in is really one of the important structures that show the level of Turkish engineering in the space industry. There is really a labor and effort here. We saw it on site with pride and appreciation.”

Turksat6A, which will make Turkey one of the first 11 countries in the world to produce communication satellites, will be launched into space by Space X in June 2024. The mission duration of the satellite will be 15 years.

Turksat6A will reduce Turkey’s foreign dependence in the space sector thanks to the domestic production of components such as the flight computer, power distribution unit, electric propulsion engine, fuel tank, power processing and control unit.
