WhatsApp Announces New Desktop App: What’s New?
WhatsApp has announced the availability of a new desktop app for Windows. The new update brings faster speeds, security and advanced search features.
The popular messaging application WhatsApp, owned by Meta, continues to gain new features. In this context, the platform, which has been focusing on cross-device messaging and calling experience for a long time, finally announced the renewed desktop application for Windows. The new app brings faster speeds, security and advanced search features.
Less Resource Usage and New Features
If we remember, we have seen several improvements in Whatsapp’s desktop app recently, including faster device connection, improved syncing between devices, link previews and stickers. However, it seems that the platform plans to take this experience to the next level.
Today, WhatsApp announced that it will support group video calls with up to 8 people and voice calls with up to 32 people for Windows users. Additionally, the platform, which has been updated with end-to-end encryption, plans to raise these limits further in the future. Let’s also say that the new version surpasses the Electron software framework with less resource usage and stability improvements.
For those who don’t know, applications with Electron framework make limited use of the operating system today. In this context, the application will now be much faster and more reliable as it is native, that is, designed specifically for Windows. You can access the new WhatsApp application, which is currently available in the Windows Store, here.
