USA: Social Media Use Of Children And Teens Is Restricted By Law In The State Of Utah

With the law passed in the US state of Utah, the condition of parents’ consent for children and teens’ use of social media was introduced.

Two laws signed by Republican Governor Spencer Cox also impose certain conditions on social media use by minors under the age of 18.

The law, which was prepared in order to reduce social media addiction and prevent possible dangers, envisages restricting children and teens’ access to social media between 22.30 in the evening and 6.30 in the morning.

The law, which makes it necessary to ask for age when entering social media, brings up lawsuits on behalf of children who are victims of social media.

The laws aim to protect children from engaging in addictive practices and from advertisements and promotions prepared for this purpose.
