At the Haliç Congress Center organized for TRT 1’s new series Mehmed: Sultan of Conquests, Fahrettin Altun made some statements about the series in particular and Turkish TV series in general.
Underlining that the series is a very big project and a serious investment, Altun said that he thinks that this project will contribute significantly to Turkey’s popular culture industry, cultural accumulation and broadcasting life.

Fahrettin Altun made the following statements about the Mehmed: Sultan of Conquests series: “The series is based on a very, very vital actor in terms of the history of civilizations and world history. It shows and tells the story of Mehmet the Conqueror and the achievements of Mehmet the Conqueror, especially the conquest of Istanbul. In essence, this series tells the story of Mehmet the Conqueror as a ruler who institutionalized the Ottoman Empire and turned it into a state with all its elements.”
He also emphasized that this series, like many others in Turkey, will make a major contribution to the Turkish brand. Emphasizing the importance of the project, which is also expected to grow the Turkish brand in the international market, Altun continued his words as follows:
“In this respect, I really care about this series. We are happy to see that the global demand for Turkish series has increased by 183 percent in the last 3 years. Today, nearly one billion people around the world watch Turkish TV series and this is a very critical factor. In this respect, we are indeed facing a real success. It should also be said that these productions are our efforts to resist against the order of cultural exploitation, against global imperialism, against cultural degeneration attempts. In this respect, I really attach great importance to these initiatives.”
TRT General Director Zahid Sobacı also attended the premiere of the series and made a speech, while the actors of the series and important names of the art world also attended. The guests watched the first episode of the series together.
