Tourist killed, pilot injured in paragliding accident

A Belarusian tourist died and the pilot was injured when his paraglider fell into a wooded area in Alanya district of Antalya.

In Alanya district of Antalya, paragliding pilot A.Ş. jumped from the 800-meter Yassıtepe in Dinek Neighborhood to make a tandem flight with Belarusian national D.S..

After a while, the parachutists lost altitude and fell into a wooded area. Police, fire brigade and health teams were dispatched to the area upon a report.

It was determined that the Belarusian tourist died in the control made by the medical teams.

The injured tandem pilot was also taken out of the area by the fire brigade and transported to the ambulance. Pilot A.Ş. was hospitalized.

D.S’s body was taken to Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy.

Another paragliding accident occurred in the Fethiye district of Muğla.

Paragliding pilot Viktor S., who went to Babadağ in Ölüdeniz Neighborhood, took off from the 1700 meter runway after the preparations.

Shortly after take-off, the Russian pilot’s parachute became tangled in a tree.

Upon being informed, the National Medical Rescue Team stationed in Babadağ was dispatched to the region.

Viktor S., who was rescued from the tree by the team, was not injured.
