Taiwan President and Vice President to Donate Salary to Turkey
While the loss of life increased in Kahramanmaraşlı-centered earthquakes, it was reported that the one-month salaries of Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen and his deputy William Lai will be donated to help earthquake victims in Turkey.
Loss of life is increasing in the earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 that occurred in 9 hours apart in Pazarcik and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaras.
On the 4th day of the earthquakes, rescue efforts continue.
Financial support has now come from Taiwan, which sent a team to Turkey for help after the earthquake.
President and Vice President to Send Salary
It has been reported that the monthly salaries of Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen and his deputy William Lai will be donated to help earthquake victims in Turkey.
In a statement made by the presidential office in Taiwan, it was stated that President Tsai and his deputy Lai “hope to do their part to help Turkey rebuild the earthquake zone as soon as possible”.
Salary, $13,300…
Last year, Tsai and Lai also donated a month’s salary to support humanitarian activities in war-torn Ukraine.
President Tsai’s monthly salary is around $13,300.
Aid Will Continue
Taiwan had allocated $2 million in aid for the earthquake that occurred in Turkey and sent two rescue teams to participate in search and rescue efforts.
In the statement, it was stated that the two-month salary would be added to the aid sent to Turkey by Taiwan.
