A new statement came from the USA regarding the latest developments in the Aegean anİŞ;d Greece.

US Ambassador to Ankara Jeffry L. Flake underlined that there is no change in Washington’s position in the Aegean and stated that the cooperation with Athens in the field of defense is aimed at strengthening NATO’s eastern flank.

The following statements were included in the statement, which was also published on the official account of the embassy:

Recently, I have been asked the question of whether there has been a change in the US position on security in the Aegean. My answer to this question is “No”. Our cooperation in the field of security with our NATO Allies Turkey and Greece is not based on taking sides or destabilizing one of the partners. Currently, our joint efforts are focused on ending Russia’s brutal and unreasonable war in Ukraine. Turkey continues to provide valuable support, especially by taking food security forward and improving the dialogue between Ukraine and Russia. Our defense cooperation with Greece strengthens NATO’s eastern flank by supporting Ukraine and our NATO allies in Central and Eastern Europe. The primary goal we share with our NATO Allies Turkey and Greece is to ensure peace, security and stability throughout the region.
