President Erdogan: 820 Ahıskans acquired Turkish citizenship
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed Meskhetian Turks at the Turkish House in New York. “With the contribution of our Ministry of Interior, our consulates general and Meskhetian Turks of the World, 820 Meskhetian Turks have acquired Turkish citizenship,” said Erdoğan and after his speech, he gave their ID cards to the Meskhetian Turks who had acquired Turkish citizenship.

Erdoğan said, “With the contribution of our Ministry of Interior, our consulates and the World Meskhetian Turks, 820 Meskhetian Turks have acquired Turkish citizenship.” Erdoğan said.
820 AHISKA TURKS WERE GIVEN THEIR NEW IDENTITIES
President Erdoğan spoke at the reception of Meskhetian Turks at the Turkevi in New York, USA, where he came to attend the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations. Stating that his efforts for the return of Meskhetian Turks to their homeland are continuing, Erdoğan gave their ID cards to 820 people who became Turkish citizens.

We ensured that a total of one thousand families settled in Erzincan and Ahlat. In this way, the number of Ahiska Turks coming to our country reaches 4 thousand. We protect Meskhetian history, art and cultural heritage.

We appreciate the projects carried out by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and TIKA. We do not see the peace and well-being of Meskhetian Turks separately from our own citizens. We are taking the necessary steps to grant them Turkish citizenship, which they have been longing for for years, and we are accelerating this process. With the contribution of our Ministry of Interior, our consulates and the World Meskhetian Turks, 820 Meskhetian Turks have acquired Turkish citizenship.
