Polish climber stranded on Mount Erciyes
Daniel’s Baranowski (29), who was stranded in the Hörküç Kaya region while climbing the mountain without permission, notified the International Emergency Coordination Center.
With the work of a team of 25 people from AFAD, JAK, UMKE and HADAK Mountaineering Club, Baranowski was reached after 6.5 hours at the 3600 altitude of Erciyes.
The mountaineer, who was in good health and was lowered from where he was in about 3 hours, thanked the teams who rescued him.
Baranowski said that he started climbing Mount Erciyes at 04:00 at night, although he had not planned beforehand, and said, “I just set off by following the map. I apologize that such a thing happened.”
Baranowski, who was brought to Tekir Kapı region, was checked by medical teams. Baranowski refused to go to the hospital.
On the other hand, it was learned that Baranowski came to Turkey from Poland on his bicycle and set up a tent in the campground on Mount Erciyes.
