Oscar-Winning Director Peter Werner Dies
Oscar-winning director Peter Werner, known for his successful television series, has died at the age of 76. Werner, who was hospitalized after the rupture of his aorta, died as a result of cardiac complications.
The New York-born director shot his first film, “Hidden and Seeking”, in 1971 after completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees in documentary production.
Werner, who won the Oscar for Best Short Film in 1976 for his short film “In the Region of Ice“, was nominated for Emmy Awards 4 times for his successful productions.
Werner was known for television series such as “Moonlighting” starring Bruce Willis, “Proof“, “Bull“, “Grimm“, “Outsiders” and “Ice“.
The famous director has also directed many television movies such as “LBJ: The Early Years“, which tells the life of 36th US President Lyndon Baines Johnson.
