Altınordu is the central district of Ordu with 220.000 population. This district is the administrative center of Ordu. On the other hand, Ünye, Fatsa and Perşembe are the populated districts of the city.

Short History of Ordu

The history of the lands in Ordu province dates back to very old times. This region, which is on the border of the Hittites who dominated Anatolia but outside the Hittite domination, was not dominated by the Frikya and Lydian states that shared their legacy after the collapse of the Hittite State. However, the Western Anatolian (Ionian) merchants established commercial colonies here.  In the BC 6th century, the Persians captured most of Anatolia and this region.

Conqueror Sultan Mehmed Han eliminated the Greek Pontus State of Trabzon in 1461 and definitely added this whole region to the Ottoman State. During the Ottoman period, Ordu was a district of the Trabzon. Ordu, which had a great fire in 1883, was reconstructed and became the provincial center during the era of the Republic of Turkey.
