Karanfil Street

Karanfil Street
Karanfil Street is the most famous street of Kizilay Square and Ankara city with its colourful cafes, bookshops and resturants.
During the 24 hour of a day, you can see the district as crowded. This street is one of the busiest streets of Kizilay, where many things from handkerchief makers to florists, bookshops to watchmakers are sold on the street. Even if we start from the analogy of Taksim and Kizilay, it can be called Kizilay’s Istiklal Street. This street also hosts one of the most used meeting points, Dost Bookstore. Another meeting point is the Human Rights Statue that connects Karanfil and Konur Street, you can see in the picture. This sculpture, made by Metin Yurdanur in 1990, comes as a work that has not lost value since those days. If you are coming from outside of Ankara, you should visit Kizilay and Karanfil Street and have a coffee in the historical places of the street.
