Iran is Burning! Protests Continue
After the Iranian National Team was defeated by the USA and eliminated from the World Cup, opponents of the regime took to the streets to show their joy. While it was stated that one person was shot in the head during the demonstrations, it turned out that the person killed was Mehran Samak, a childhood friend of Said Ezatolahi, who plays for the national team.
In the last match of the 2022 World Cup Group B, Iran lost 1-0 to the USA and was eliminated from the tournament. After this result, opponents of the regime took to the streets in Iran, had fun and showed joy. It was learned that one person died in these demonstrations.
KILLED IN THE BEGINNING
According to the Iranian Human Rights Organization, after the Iranian National Team was eliminated from the World Cup after losing to the USA, the joyful demonstrations of the regime opponents in the country became bloody. Mehran Samak, 27, was shot in the head and killed by the police. A video of Samak’s funeral was published by the Iranian Human Rights Organization.
“OUR YOUTH AND OUR NATION DO NOT DESERVE THIS”
Iranian National Team football player Said Ezatolahi shared for Mehran Samak. Ezatolahi, who was born in the same neighborhood as Samak, shared a photo of them playing in the same team. Ezatolahi wrote, “One day the masks will fall and the truth will emerge. Our youth and our nation do not deserve this.”
