How to Hide Instagram Account?

The Instagram platform has become a very popular service where users can easily share their every moment. Since your Instagram profile is public by default, when you post a new photo or video, Instagram users all over the world can see your photos. If you want only your followers to see the content you share, you will need to apply Instagram profile hiding steps. How to Hide Instagram Account?
- Open the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device.
- Tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the app.
- Tap the icon of three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of your profile page.
- Select Settings from the section that opens.
- On the Settings page, select Privacy.
- At the top of the Privacy page, slide the button next to Hidden Account to the right to change the button from grey to blue.
Hiding your account is one of the easiest ways to make your profile less visible. Even if someone eventually finds you, they won’t be able to see your posts unless you explicitly give them permission. You can enable privacy mode by going to Settings > Privacy and selecting “Incognito Account” at the top. When you make your Instagram account private, anyone who already follows you will continue to follow you. However, new followers will only be able to request to follow you (these requests will appear in your Instagram notifications tab) and you can approve or reject these requests.
When your Instagram account is private, you have to approve all follow requests and only the people you approve can see your content. If someone wants to follow your private account, you will be notified by the heart icon in the upper right corner of the app homepage. When you set your account from public to private, anyone who already follows you will continue to follow your private account. You can remove a follower or block a user so they can no longer see your private account without sending a request.
Remember, anyone who doesn’t follow your private account can still message you.
How to Hide Instagram Account on Computer?
- Go to the Instagram website and log in to your account.
- Click on your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen and select Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Click the Privacy and Security tab in the sidebar menu on the left of the Settings page.
- To make your account private, tick the box next to Secret Account at the top of the page.
Once you make your account private, you can go back at any time and turn it back into a public account through your account settings.
To make sharing easier, Instagram allows you to link your Facebook account to the app. If you want to make your Instagram account private, we recommend that you also remove your Facebook connection from your Instagram account. This will make it harder for people to reach you. When you link the two accounts, you will appear in the “Discover People” tab of people who have added you on Facebook. To do this, go to Settings > Account Centre > Profiles and Accounts > Facebook > Remove from Account Centre and you will have successfully removed your Facebook account from Instagram.
Sometimes Instagram will ask you to confirm whether you want to “disable connected experiences for your account”. Confirm this. When you unlink your Facebook account, you will no longer appear in the Explore Contacts tab when your Facebook friends decide to synchronise their contacts.
You can also remove your phone number if you suspect a security vulnerability with your Intagram account. Before you proceed to remove your phone number from Instagram, note that you will not be able to activate the two-factor authentication feature. For this to work, you must also have a verified email address, as Instagram requires at least one verified source of contact to communicate with you. You can disable two-factor authentication by going to Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication and turning off authentication there. To remove your phone number, tap the profile icon and select “Edit Profile”. Scroll down to “Personal Information Settings”, your phone number will be in the second row.
