How Should Foreigners Pay the Rental Fee in Turkey?

If you are a foreigner residing in a real estate in Turkey that you have rented with a rental contract, you must make the payment through a bank regardless of the rental price and get a written receipt. According to the legal regulations in force in the Republic of Turkey, if the rent you will pay is 500 TL or more, you must make this payment through a bank. If you are making a transaction through an ATM, you must keep the printed receipt given to you, and if you are paying rent through online banking applications, you must keep the online receipt that will be provided to you at the end of the transaction. This receipt is accepted as proof against possible future disputes. You can take a look at the details about real estate rentals by foreigners in Turkey in this article.

In cases where the rental price is less than 500 TL, it will be to their advantage to receive a written receipt after the foreign tenant has handed over the rent. If the day the rent is to be paid is not specified in the rental agreement, the rental fee must be paid within the first 3 days of each month. In addition, there may be a slight increase in the rental price that you have agreed with annual periods. The rental price to be increased in annual periods should not exceed the consumer price index rate.
