Heavy rains caused flooding and landslides in the Sao Sebastiao and Ubatuba regions of Sao Paulo state. 35 people died in Sao Sebastiao and 1 in Ubatuba. Brazilian media announced that a 7-year-old girl was among the dead. “The entire federal government and armed forces are working in coordination with the government of Sao Paulo to assist the victims,” Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on his social media account.
