Death Toll in Turkey Earthquake Passes Fukushima Nuclear Disaster

The death toll from the earthquake in Turkey exceeded 31,600, surpassing the death toll from Japan’s Fukushima disaster.

The number of people who lost their lives in the earthquakes that hit our country has exceeded 31 thousand 600, leaving behind the deaths caused by the Fukushima disaster in Japan.

There Was A 9.0 Magnitude Earthquake in Fukushima

Earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.6 and 7.8, the epicenter of which is Kahramanmaras, are shown as the deadliest earthquakes in Turkey’s recent history. On the other hand, the Fukushima disaster was caused by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami, causing widespread destruction and nuclear meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

The number of those confirmed dead or listed as missing in the Fukushima nuclear disaster was officially announced as approximately 18,500. Most of the coastal towns and villages swept away by the tsunami were rebuilt at a cost of $280 billion, and tens of thousands of people were never able to return home.

You are referring to the deaths in the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.

Deaths from the nuclear disaster were 0 according to UNSCEAR. That’s as official as it gets.
