Dalaman is one of the 13 districts of Muğla. Dalaman Airport is within the boundaries of this district. After Ortaca was turned into a district, it did not have a town. It has 26 districts. Dalaman, a district of Muğla Province in the Mediterranean Region, is located between the districts of Köyceğiz, Ortaca and Fethiye and Çameli district of Denizli province. The eastern, northern and western parts are mountainous and the south is lowland. The district lands are bumpy by the Shadowy Mountains (2.295 m.), Bead Mountain (2.265 m.). The skirts of these mountains, which lie parallel to the Fethiye Bay, are covered with forests with leafy and high parts of coniferous trees. Dalaman Plain, is the most fertile plains of the province of Mugla, is the most fertile plains both in Turkey and the world. The district lands are irrigated by the Dalaman Stream, and the Mediterranean and Aegean Regions are at the transition point. There is no information about the history of the district due to the lack of sufficient archaeological excavations and surveys. However, it is thought that the history of the district dates back to very old times since it is in the Ancient Caria region.Dalaman, which was a single municipality with the merger of Atakent and Dalaman towns, which were previously connected to Köyceğiz District, was made a district in 1983.
The hospital started to operate in 1970 as a Health Station within the Seka Factory, affiliated to Social Insurance Institution Fethiye Hospital. According to the needs, a 4-storey service building was built and continued to operate as a dispenser in 1978. As there were no other inpatient health institutions within the boundaries of the district, the existing dispensary was transformed into a 30-bed hospital in 1988 and continued its activities. Today, Dalaman Pubblic Hospital continues to serve in its new building in Söğütlüyurt neighborhood.
