After the chemical smell was felt in the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul before the consulate invitation, the fire brigade, AFAD and medical teams were sent to the scene. The teams stated that they did not encounter any negativity as a result of the investigations.
A chemical smell was felt before the event organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Foreign Relations Department at the Basilica Cistern Museum in Alemdar Mahallesi, attended by Consuls General and Consuls from 76 countries.
Upon the notification, firefighters, AFAD and health teams were sent to the scene. Crews did ventilation work in the area.
As a result of the investigations, it was determined that there was no chemical reaction and the teams left the scene.
It was noted that the smell may have been caused by the spraying that was stated before the meeting.
