Champion of beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran receives punishment from Diyanet
Turkish hafiz Selman Okumuş, who came first in the Quran recitation contest held in Saudi Arabia, stated that he was penalized by the Directorate of Religious Affairs for appearing on television programs.
Selman Okumuş, the winner of the World International Quran recitation contest, said in a broadcast that the Directorate of Religious Affairs does not allow him to appear on television programs and that he is penalized for every television program he participates in.
Selman Okumuş said that he was invited to the 5N1K program hosted by Cüneyt Özdemir, but the Directorate of Religious Affairs did not allow him to participate in the program.
He stated that he asked the Istanbul Mufti’s Office for permission to participate in the program, but the Mufti’s Office gave permission to television but not to him.
After the incident described by Selman Okumuş, the question “Who is penalized in the Diyanet and who is not?” came to mind.
