Brazil Declares 3 Days Of Mourning For Dead Singer
Famous singer Rita Lee, known as the "Queen of Rock", died at the age of 75.
It was recorded that Rita Lee, the “Queen of Rock” in Brazil, passed away due to lung cancer.
Lee’s family made a statement on the social networking site, stating that the artist died at his home in Sao Paulo.
Lee, who gained great fame in the country with his works titled “Baila conmigo” and “Mania de voce”, has been struggling with lung cancer since 2021.
Won Many Awards
Winner of numerous awards, including two Latin Grammys, Lee was recognized as a versatile artist in the country, playing piano, flute, banjo, harmonica, classical and electric guitars.
Singer songwriter Lee had 3 children with Roberto de Carvalho, to whom she had been married for over 47 years.
It was shared that the artist will be sent to his last journey with a ceremony to be held in Ibirapuera Park, the second largest park in Sao Paulo.
3 Days Of Mourning
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva announced a 3-day mourning period for Lee’s death.
Stating that he was deeply saddened by Lee’s death, Lula da Silva said:
Singer, songwriter, actress, multi-instrumentalist. An artist ahead of her time. She found the title ‘Queen of Rock’ inappropriate, but she lived up to it throughout her career. She fought machismo in life and music, inspiring generations of women.
