Artificial Intelligence Search Feature From Google: Site Visits May Drop
Google has started testing its AI search feature with users in the UK, following the US. With this feature, artificial intelligence will provide a general summary for searches made on Google. Publishers are concerned that site visits may decrease.
Google has started testing AI-authored search responses in the UK, after testing them in the US last year.
SITE VISITS MAY DECREASE
Initially, only a small proportion of logged-in UK users will see an AI-generated “overview” at the top of some search results.
But some publishers are concerned that AI responses could reduce visits to their sites.
SUBSCRIPTION FOR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SEARCH
Google’s so-called “Search Generative Experience” has been available in the US for about a year, but only to users who sign up through Google Labs.
According to the Financial Times, the company is considering offering subscriptions for some premium AI search features in the future.
Google has also denied that it is working on an ad-free search experience.
Hema Budaraju, who leads Google’s productive AI work in search, said the new search results will continue to show links and ads.
