In 2020, the Communiqué on the Implementation of Import Surveillance by the Ministry of Commerce was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. With this communiqué, the procedures and principles regarding the prospective surveillance application in the import of goods defined as “transmitter and receiver portable wireless telephone devices” have been determined. With the decision taken at that time, it was stated that with the introduction of an surveillance application of 200 dollars per piece as a unit customs value in smartphone imports, the surveillance application would only be applied for goods below the said value. made importable.

However, the situation is that as of March 28, 2021, with the start of a new era in the import of smartphones in Turkey, with the communiqué amending the Communiqué on the implementation of surveillance in imports in 2019 numbered 2020. Ertan Şensoy, Vivo Turkey Deputy General Manager, announced that the phone replacement period, which was 18 months in recent years, increased to 48 months due to price increases and economic uncertainties in the Turkish market.
