The Minister of Commerce Makes a Statement on the Import of Used Vehicles
It has been wondering for some time whether the import of used vehicles will be allowed. According to the news on NTV, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat made a statement on the subject. Minister Bolat stated that they did not carry out such a study as the Ministry of Commerce.
Minister Ömer Bolat announced that the inspection has begun to see if the prices have been increased more than the VAT increase. Minister Bolat said, “We see that second-hand sales are loosening,” and continued his statement with the following words:
“We have observed that used sales at higher prices are gaining a downward momentum towards the new car sales price. It will take a few weeks but we will stabilize here.”
Stating that negotiations were held with advertisement sites, Minister Bolat was warned that as of July 15, the second-hand price of new vehicles should not exceed the sales price. Those who want to place these ads will be warned. In case of non-compliance, a fine of up to 300,000 Turkish liras will be imposed,” he said.
Stating that cooperation has been established with the Notaries Union of Turkey, Minister Bolat said, “From July 15, notaries will accept more than three individual sales a year as commercial sales and will not carry out these sales.”
