Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer made new statements regarding the education process in the provinces affected by the earthquake. Announcing that schools will be opened in 71 provinces on February 20, Özer announced that education was suspended in 10 provinces in the earthquake zone until 1 March. On the other hand, Minister Özer announced that private schools increased their scholarship student capacity from 3 percent to 10 percent.

Özer announced that education was suspended until 1 March in 10 provinces affected by the earthquake.
CAPACITY OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS INCREASED TO 10 PERCENT
On the other hand, it was announced that the capacity of private schools for students affected by the earthquake was increased. Minister Özer said, “We have made the necessary negotiations with our private education institutions. As of today, we are increasing the capacity from 3 percent to 10 percent and we will use the 7 percent capacity for our students coming from 10 provinces.” aforementioned.

Minister Özer’s statements:
As of February 20, education will start in 71 provinces. There will be no more extensions.
We are suspending education in 10 provinces until 1 March. Dual education will start in 10 provinces.
We are not looking for a second term attendance requirement in 10 provinces.
Private education institutions, relatives of martyrs and veterans have the opportunity to benefit from full scholarships up to 3 percent of their capacity.
We increased the capacity from 3 percent to 10 percent. We will use this 7 percent only for students from 10 provinces.
