(VIDEO) Ataturk Statue Remains Standing in the Village, Almost All of the Houses were Destroyed

Houses in Harmanlı, located in Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman, were destroyed in earthquakes. The Atatürk statue, which was erected with the support of the villagers in Harmanlı, where approximately 60 people lost their lives, remained standing. Town Mayor Ahmet Değirmenci said, “If you don’t steal the material, everything will be fine.”

Earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6, the epicenter of which were the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş, directly affected 11 provinces. Adiyaman Harmanlı, where great destruction was experienced, was almost in ruins.

One of the villagers, Gaffar Düzey, said, “80 percent of the village has disappeared. I also lost my mother. Everything is in shambles. We are in the open. Our container has not arrived. The tent is still insufficient.
