Ukraine completely took the strategic town from the Russians!
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the strategically important town of Sunja in Kursk was completely taken from the Russians. The Ukrainian General Staff also shared images of the first hours of the uprising in Kursk.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Kiev troops have taken full control of the town of Sunja in the Russian city of Kursk. For the first time, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published a propaganda video of the first hours of the occupation of Kursk.
THEY ARE WITHIN 10 KILOMETRES OF RUSSIAN TERRITORY
Located about 10 kilometres inside Russian territory, Sunja is the largest of the 80 settlements that Ukraine claims to have captured in the 10 days since the start of the surprise Russian invasion. Recent reports from the region also indicate that the Ukrainian settlement of Borki has also been occupied, along with related photographs.
General Sirsky reported that the liberation of the city of Sunja by the Russian army has been completed. ‘A military command is currently being formed there,’ Volodymyr Zelensky said after receiving a briefing from Oleksandr Shirki, Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The report has not been independently verified, but a Ukrainian television channel yesterday broadcast a report from Sunja stating that the city was under Ukrainian control.
CRITICAL FOR THE NORTH STREAM
Sunja is home to a metering station for Russian gas from Western Siberia, which then flows to Europe via Ukrainian pipelines and accounts for about 3 per cent of European gas imports.
Andrei Fedorov, Russia’s former Deputy Foreign Minister, told a television programme broadcast on state television: ‘The smart people in Kiev have calculated that they will have to seize this centre, because the Russian army will have to destroy it to get it back . This means that gas deliveries to Europe will stop because of Russia’s actions, not Ukraine’s. By the way, this development will hit Hungary and Slovakia very hard,’ he said.
Kiev quoted Russian sources as saying that prosecutions are being prepared against Russian generals following the Ukrainian occupation of Kursk, as the Ukrainians claim to control 1,100 square kilometres of Russian territory. A state of emergency has been declared in the Kursk and Belgorod regions.
