Two New Candidates from Turkey to UNESCO
Two more cultural values of Turkey were conveyed to UNESCO. Thus, Turkey will rise to the second place in the list of countries that have registered the most cultural values on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
“Traditional Jumpsuit Making and Execution” and “Traditional Handicrafts Conservation Program: Altıneller Traditional Handicrafts Festival” were submitted to UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists for consideration in 2024 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Under the moderation of Turkey, Traditional Overalls Production was nominated for the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a joint file with North Macedonia, and Altıneller Traditional Handicrafts Festival was nominated for the List of Good Conservation Practices as a national file.
TÜRKİYE WILL BE THE SECOND COUNTRY TO REGISTER THE MOST CULTURAL VALUES
Turkey ranks third in the world with 25 cultural values registered in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. The ministry, which presented five new cultural values to UNESCO for evaluation in 2023 last year, will increase the number of registered cultural values to 30 as of December this year. Thus, Turkey will rise to the second place in the ranking of the countries with the most cultural values in the lists.
