One of the partners of the International Space Apps Challenge, organized by NASA for 11 years, was the Turkish Space Agency (TUA). In addition to TUA, important space agencies from Japan, Europe, Australia, China and South Africa take part in the event where various projects in the field of space technologies will be discussed by brainstorming method.
Turkish Space Agency Participated in NASA Competition
Making a statement on the subject, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that “In this way, we will benefit from their experiences on the one hand and capture the fields on the other hand,” and stated that there will be a mutual exchange of information. to transfer our own space projects and experiences to another.
Stating that more than 30 thousand competitors participated in the organization, Minister Kacır pointed out that TUA is one of the new stakeholders of the big organization and said, “Turkey will show its presence all over the world to be among the countries that have achieved this success. The team works to solve the challenges faced on Earth and in space. It offers projects that show collaboration and potential.” aforementioned.
After his speech, Kacır pointed out that more than one evaluation will be made to determine the projects with the most competent and modern technology at the event, and continued as follows;
The competition encourages increased interest in space science and exploration. NASA Space Apps Challenge is an international open source hackathon that lasts over 48 hours in cities around the world. Coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, producers, technologists and everyone curious come together to overcome the challenges they face on earth and in outer space.
The competition encourages creativity and critical thinking to increase interest in earth and space science and their exploration, and fosters the growth and diversity of the next generation of scientists, technologists, designers and engineers.
