Turkey’s National Wings Fly To Exports

Turkish Aerospace Industry has sold ANKA to 6 countries, AKSUNGUR to 2 countries, ATAK helicopter to 3 countries, HÜRKUŞ to 2 countries, ŞİMŞEK to 1 country, and some of the deliveries have been completed.

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is adding new ones to its export achievements with the national and indigenous platforms it has developed.

Turkish defence and aerospace company TAI participated in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2023) in Malaysia, one of the largest defence exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific Region. The company introduced its aircrafts to the military and civilian officials of the countries in the region, particularly Malaysia.

Bertan Kurt, Head of Corporate Marketing and Communications at TAI, answered AA correspondent’s questions about the company’s export activities at the exhibition.

According to the information provided by Kurt, the company, which has achieved a steady growth strategy since 2018, received orders worth 1 billion dollars last year as its unique products took place in the market. In the last five years, the company has signed contracts worth a total of 3.3 billion dollars with 13 countries.

Among the platforms produced at TAI facilities, ANKA was sold to six countries, AKSUNGUR to two countries, ATAK helicopter to three countries, HÜRKUŞ to two countries, and ŞİMŞEK (High Speed Target Aircraft System) to one country, and some of the deliveries were completed.

So far, the company has delivered 4 ATAKs to the Philippines, 3 ANKA to Kazakhstan, 2 AKSUNGUR to Kyrgyzstan, 3 HÜRKUŞ and 2 ANKA to Chad, 2 HÜRKUŞ to Niger and 5 ANKA to Tunisia.

Working with the world’s leading companies in aircraft structures, TAI has signed new business development contracts worth approximately 2.5 billion dollars in the last three years.

The company aims to continue increasing its export success in 2023.

New Target Region South America

Having signed contracts worth 300 million dollars in the first three months of this year, TAI plans to realize new sales of 2 billion dollars with the ATAK helicopter, ANKA and AKSUNGUR unmanned aerial vehicles and HÜRKUŞ aircraft in mass production.

Among the 2023 targets, entering the South American region is among the important agenda items.

In aircraft structures, the new business development target for this year is set at 550 million dollars.

The value of new contracts that the company expects from abroad in 2023 is approximately 3 billion dollars.

TAI, which has realized exports worth 2.5 billion dollars in the last five years, aims to reach an export figure of 1 billion dollars in 2023.
